"Call me 'Gates'," is what Gene Perla said to D. Treut after they smacked the last note of their first gig. Since, they've backed Dave Liebman, Nicole Glover, Ralph Lalama, Peter Apfelbaum, Jon Cowherd, jaimie branch, Jon Goldberger, Jon Elbaz, and Davis Whitfield. D.Treut introduced Preminger and Meister to make 'GATES' performing a book of music based on Perla's oeuvre.

Drummer/Composer D. Treut, voiced as Detroit, is a Brooklyn musician/artist. CBGB's to Carnegie Hall "A vortex of music," his work is defined by kaleidoscopic unconventionality, extracting from jazz, improvising, rock, and pop realms with equal vigor creating something original and undefinable. Gene Perla is a bona fide Jazz Bassman. Four strings have led him to play with Miles Davis, Elvin Jones, Frank Sinatra, Nina Simone, Sarah Vaughan, Joni Mitchell, Sonny Rollins, Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, Steve Grossman, David Liebman, John McLaughlin, Billy Cobham, Jan Hammer, Jimmy Cobb, Don Alias, Snow White & the 7 Dwarfs, Santa Claus, and the Muffin Man.

Noah Preminger, Boston-based saxophonist, "designs a different kind of sound for each note, an individual destiny and story." - NYTimes. A two-time winner of Downbeat's Rising Star Tenor Sax, he's worked with Billy Hart, Dave Holland, Jason Moran, Dave Douglas, Joe Lovano, Jeff 'Tain' Watts and Cecil McBee.
