Cellist and composer Jody Redhage-Ferber's current project is inspired by the word ecotone from ecology, denoting a transition zone where two biomes meet that is particularly rife with life. Playing with this concept in literal and whimsical ways, Redhage-Ferber's current project features her original compositions inspired by the design and characteristics of flora and fauna existing in ecotones. With her current collaborators Sara Caswell (violin) and Camila Meza (guitar & voice), the trio explores a musical ecotone between chamber music and jazz improvisation, and the collaborators share an eerie simpatico of musical phrasing, harmonic language, and a passion for the art of melody.
